A Gentle New Year Reset: What I’m Doing Differently in 2026

Hey everyone! I know I’m a few weeks late, but Happy New Year!! As you can see I’ve taken yet another two month hiatus, but what can I say? Mom life comes first. ❤

My business and blog have quite honestly taken a backseat lately. Chloe is somehow already four months old, so we are no longer in the newborn trenches, but I would definitely say she requires a lot more attention at this stage than she did in the newborn stage!! Though I do miss the cuddles… She is growing so fast these days. Every week it seems like she’s hit a new milestone or grown out of another size.

I’m going into 2026 with a much different mentality than the one I went into 2025 with.

I personally don’t do New Year’s resolutions because I always end up trying to resolve all the issues in my life at once and getting burnt out after a week or two. I do have a lot of goals, but I’m focusing more on being gentler with myself, not piling so much onto my plate at once, and getting rid of that all or nothing mindset that has set me back for so long.

I’ve always struggled with putting my all into my goals and getting burnt out pretty quickly when I no longer have that 100%, then quitting or “starting over” instead of just giving what I have that day. I’ve learned now that I’m not going to have 100% to give every day and that 50% some days is still better than 0%. It’s still progress toward my goals. Something is always better than nothing.

Towards the end of last year, I really started to change my way of thinking. If there was something that I wanted to obtain or achieve, I stopped saying “I want to do this” and started just, doing it. Less talking, more doing. I noticed that when I talked about wanting something, it always seemed far away, like an unrealistic dream or something on a bucket list that you never get around to crossing off, but when I stopped talking so much about it and just made a plan, I was able to achieve what I wanted. I accomplished a lot last year and I’m proud of that. I started a business (a dream that I’ve had since I was a kid), moved out, had a baby, made a lot of progress toward my fitness goals, and finally put aside the anxiety that has stopped me from doing so many things that I’ve wanted to do for so long.

So I really want to bring that mentality that I adapted toward the end of last year into this year: less talking, more doing.

Let’s achieve our goals this year!

As far as my business and this blog, I do have some concrete goals in mind and I’m super excited to share them!

New products

If you haven’t seen the crocheted frog in overalls that’s been very popular in my Etsy shop, go check it out!! Currently I only sell them with or without overalls, but in the very near future I’m planning to make them in multiple outfits like sweaters, hats, and dresses. This update has been in the making for a little while now but I’m super excited to put it into action this year.

I’m also planning to design more keychains as they were pretty popular in my shop last year!! I’m starting to love quick and simple projects like bookmarks, keychains, and other little accessories, especially when they can be easily customized.

That being said, I totally want to get back into making intricate dolls like my Strawberry Shortcake. It’s something that I really do enjoy, even though it takes a lot of time and materials! I’d like to have several different doll variations available in my shop this year.

New patterns

I also have been trying to get into pattern writing for some time now. I have drafted out a few simple patterns for some of my keychains and bookmarks, and I’m excited to finally share those here in the near future!

I hope to improve significantly at my pattern writing skills and have patterns available for different outfits for different dolls and stuffed animals.

New design

Lastly, I’m determined to create a website that reflects my brand, so I will be studying all things blog and website design and hosting in hopes of creating the perfect site! Even it takes me all year xD

That’s all for now! Thanks for stopping by, and keep checking back for updates as always 😉

What are your goals this year? What are you hoping to achieve in 2026?
