Hey everyone! Today I’m sharing this adorable free crochet lemon keychain pattern.
In between working on some longer projects, I’ve started back making keychains again! (Partially because I’ve had to put those big projects on hold since I haven’t gotten the chance to go pick up all of the yarn I had stored at my parents’ house before I moved out, haha.)
I’ve really enjoyed making up fruit themed keychains for the summer. You can find the strawberry and lemon slice keychains I made last month in my Etsy shop. This week I was actually searching for some non-fruit themed keychain inspiration for a new keychain series, maybe something to release in the fall, when this adorable lemon keychain caught my eye. There wasn’t a pattern so I decided to design one myself!
I do consider this to be a quick, easy, beginner-friendly pattern, but let me know your thoughts if you try it. Although I have written a few patterns here and there, this is the first one that I’m actually posting here on the blog–so this is a pretty big accomplishment for me!!
Also, this keychain is now available to purchase in my Etsy shop!

All right, let’s get into the pattern.
Materials:
Less than 1 skein worsted weight cotton yarn in yellow–I used maybe 50 yards (I used I Love This Cotton yarn)
Less than 1 skein worsted weight cotton yarn in green–I used maybe 25 yards (I used I Love This Cotton yarn)
3.5mm crochet hook (you can use a smaller hook if you prefer your keychain to be smaller)
Stitch marker
Yarn needle
Polyester stuffing
Keychain (I buy mine in packs of 30 from SHEIN and so far that’s the cheapest place I’ve found them)
Finished measurements:
Mine turned out 4.5″ long counting the keychain and 3″ wide counting the leaf.
Pattern notes:
-Pattern is worked in continuous rounds without joining so you may find it helpful to place a marker in the first stitch of every round.
-Cotton yarn works best because your stitches will work up much tighter and sturdier but you can use any yarn that you wish! I like I Love This Cotton and Lily Sugar ‘N Cream.

Assembly:

Sew opening closed at the top of the lemon and attach to the keychain. I just went in and out of the ring on the keychain a couple of times with the yarn and secured it to the top of the lemon.

Attach the leaf to the keychain. I attached the leaf in the same ring using the same method I attached the lemon with.
Weave in ends.

And you’re finished!! If you have any issues with any of the pieces or their assembly, feel free to refer to my pictures or leave me a comment below and I’ll try my best to help.

I hope you enjoyed this pattern! As always, tag me on Instagram @handmade.by.micah if you post pictures of your finished project–I love seeing other people’s work!
Happy crocheting 🙂
